At HIP Studio we believe Pilates is truly functional fitness, so we put it as the foundation of our class schedule. No matter your level of fitness, practicing Pilates increases body awareness, flexibility, range of motion and creates long lean muscles in while improving posture and core strength. This relieves joint pain and stress in the neck and back. Strengthening the deep postural muscles is not only essential for a healthy body, but can also help prevent injury as well as bouncing back from one.

The core principles of our signature class carry over into all our others, pun intended!

High Intensity Pilates ( or HIP)

Take a Pilates reformer class spiced with an athletic approach. High Intensity Pilates brings a similar intensity rooted in traditional Pilates practice. All of our trainers at HIP Hermosa Beach have their 300+ Hour Pilates certifications. Clients can expect to be taught proper form, incorporate traditional breath patterns and getting a sweat as we intensify the Pilates reformer experience.

Jumpboard

Looking to build speed and power? Need to work through knee and ankle issues? The jumpboard fastens to the end of the reformer adding a cardio component to a regular HIP class and burning serious calories. Using the principals of Plyometrics, the jumpboard takes gravity out of the equation for less stress on the joints. It’s a great low impact alternative for a cardio workout while strengthening and stabilizing too!

Kickboxing

This top calorie-burning workout takes martial arts and mixes it into high intensity cardio intervals with toning recovery periods. You’ll be improving coordination, challenging the core, and cultivating balance. It’s a muscle toner and stress reliever in one. Turn your worry into a punching bag and kick your body into high gear.

HIP Mat

Not your average mat class. It’s high intensity Pilates! The same great calorie zapping, sweat inducing, body sculpting, full fitness experience, only without the reformer. By incorporating weights and intense intervals this mat class will bring you back to basics with strength training, Pilates technique and body awareness. Expand your Pilates practice on the floor.

HIP Yoga Combo

A great 2 in 1! 25 minutes of High Intensity Pilates supplemented with 25 minutes of Yoga Flow. After you get your blood pumping and strength training on the reformer, yoga focuses on opening up the hips, stretching hamstrings, strengthening the lower back and opening up the chest. It’s the happy marriage of Pilates and Yoga!

HIP Dance

Improve your coordination, get your cardio in and learn dance technique all in one class! Challenge your mind with choreography and surprise yourself with moves you didn’t know you had. This classic dance class warms up by working the legs, arms and core then incorporates cardio combinations to heart pumping songs. No previous dance experience necessary, just excitement to move and smile!

HIP Bag of Tricks

We incorporate high intensity interval training and strength workouts in HIP Bag of Tricks. TRX and Rebounding are pillars of this HIIT class.

TRX doesn’t mean exercising with a Tyrannosaurus Rex, it’s Total-body Resistance eXercise. TRX is suspension training using your own bodyweight and gravity to create intensity for building muscle, strength, power, balance, coordination, flexibility, core and joint stability.

Rebounding is so much fun, and this movement has greater benefits than youthful jumping games. Trampoline workouts improve balance, bone density, coordination, cardiovascular fitness and organ function. A study by NASA Scientists has shown that rebounding for 10 minutes is better workout than 33 minutes of running. Intervals in HIP Bag of Tricks take you from rebounder to TRX and working out everything in between to take your effort to results.

HIP Barre

At a HIP Barre class ballet is fused with Pilates for a workout requiring no previous dance technique. Exercises lengthen and tone while burning fat and working the joints with absolutely zero impact. Some exercises utilize a playground ball while others step away from the barre to incorporate light weights for upper body sculpting. The class typically ends with Pilates inspired abs. At HIP Studio, Barre classes are a different kind of happy hour.
